Rev Curtis Lee Davis

As surely as God is love, Curtis Lee Davis, Sr. entered this world on August 7, 1940, in Yazoo City, Mississippi. Curtis was the youngest of six children born to the union of Eugene and Princella Davis. Three of his siblings (now deceased) Eugene Jr. and two others departed this life early in life. His son Curtis Lee Davis Jr. also preceded him in death. To seek a better life for themselves and their children, the Davis’s migrated to Chicago in 1952 and united with Mt Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church. Curtis attended Hyde Park High School where he was active as a school hall guard, the Varsity Football Team and the Track Team. He attended Wilson Junior College, Chicago, IL. In a previous marriage Curtis became the proud father to his oldest son Kenneth. In 1968, God’s grace provided Curtis someone with whom to weather life’s ultimate trails and travails. Curtis was blessedly joined in holy matrimony to the former Carlotta Greene. They enjoyed a loving, strong companionship until his final moments. To this union he was blessed with four children; two daughters and two sons: Crystal, Octavia, Curtis and Craig. Within this marriage not only did they share together a wonderful family, it was together in the year 1973 that Curtis & Carlotta received Jesus the Christ as their personal Savior and united with Grove Heights Christian Church under the leadership of Pastor Robert Crockett. Curtis received and accepted the call to minister the Gospel. He was ordained on September 30, 1990 by the Christian Learning Center of Harvey, Illinois, under Rev. James Fair. He continued on faithfully, pressing towards the mark growing in the grace and knowledge of the Lord. From 2005 to 2011 Rev. Davis served at Grace Bible Church, Riverdale, IL until he was lead to unite with Grace Community Christian Church of Country Club Hills, IL under the leadership of Rev. W. Blackmon, Pastor. Rev. Davis believed the Christian mission to be at least twofold, namely: (1) to save souls (Evangelism); and (2) to strengthen those saved souls with information and inspiration (Worship). Knowing that even Christians saints must also abide within a society. Rev. Davis’s ministerial focus also included social application of the claim of the Gospel. In December 2010, Rev. Davis received two additional special blessings. His nephew and niece, Devin and Tiairah Greene came to live with him allowing him the opportunity to father, love, be loved and teach them life lessons while sharing the message of the Good News. On August 26, 2011, the Reverend Curtis Davis ended his earthly labor, and went home to be with his Lord. He bequeaths to us all a vest legacy of love and service. Celebrating his life, memory and example are: a devote wife, Carlotta Davis; two sons: Kenneth Davis (Terri), Craig Davis (Bridgette); two daughters: Crystal Harris (Nikita), Octavia Mailey (Harrison) Adopted son and daughter; Devin and Tiairah Greene; one brother; Robert Davis; one sister Betty Curtis, six brother in laws, five sister in laws; one godson: Torrence L. Greene; Spiritual son: Dennis Boone; seven grandchildren: Tiffany, Tamika, Gabriela, Craig, Alex, Kyra and Kennedy; one great grandchild: Jaidyn; two aunts and a host of nieces, nephews and friends who all miss, yet cherish the sweet caring spirit and tender acts of love of Rev. Curtis Davis.
