Betty Ann Carter

August 21, 1946 - September 17, 2015

Betty Ann Carter was born in Chicago Illinois to Robert and Hannah Smith who proceeded her in death. She lived, worked and attended school in Chicago, the Suburbs and in Indiana. > > Betty Ann went to Carver High School , she graduated and pursued her career in nursing as an LPN. Betty worked at several hospital facilities. She held several positions at Mercy Hospital, Cornell Interventions and Community Mental Health. Betty started and became President of the Union for Cornell Interventions. She believed in furthering her education by completing an associates degree at South Suburban College in Human Services. She also received her license as a certified alcohol and drug counselor. > > Betty Ann was married to Gerald Carter and have two beautiful daughters and a grand daughter. Denise and Erica has become astounding young women and she loved and adored her precious grand daughter Mikyla. Betty Ann also opened her heart and home to a host of children in need who also came to know her as "Mom." > > > > Betty Ann was a member of Christ Spiritual Way of Truth and often took her entire family to services. She will be remembered for her love, care, and concern for everyone she encountered. > > > > Betty has joined her husband Gerald D Carter, parents Robert and Hannah Smith and her sister Bonnie D Porch. Betty is survived by her daughters Denise R Dease and Erica L Carter, Granddaughter, Mikyla A. Carter-Payne, sister Barbara Williams and her brothers Robert E Smith III and his wife Barbara, James R Smith Sr and Kevin S Smith. Betty is also survived by her loving nieces, nephews, god children, relatives and friends.
