Charles Dawkins

Charles Dawkins was born January 5, 1918 in Miami Florida to the union of the late James Dawkins, and Christine Bethel Dawkins. Charles was raised in a Christian home and given strong teachings in the Christian faith along with his brother James sisters Emily (who preceded him in death)and Nathalie. CHARLES completed High school in Miami and left to serve in the United States Navy during World War II. Charles married Francis Revels and had two sons Benjamin and Charles jr. (preceded him in death). Francis and Charles later dissolved their union and were forever friends. CHARLES moved to New York after receiving an Honorable Discharge from Active duty in the Military in 1946, and later worked for the U.S. Postal Service until retiring in 1983. CHARLES moved to Chicago and united with Modestine Hawkins (who preceded him in death) for an adventurous and blissful 24 years. CHARLES gave his life to Christ in 1984 and became apart of New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church Ministry until he left this earth to meet His Heavenly Father February 23,2012. CHARLES was a giving and fun loving man, quiet in nature and kind in heart. He shared his life and his heart with family and friends. CHARLES leaves to cherish his fondest memories; one devoted step-daughter Carmen N. Kinnon (Chgo); one son Benjamin Dawkins (FL); three grand children GillEtte’ (Walter) Anderson (MN), Corey and Krystal Dawkins (FL); two great-grand children Genesia, and Lewis Williams; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
